Well the 2007 holiday season is quickly coming to an end at the Disneyland Resort. The good news is that since New Years day fell on a Tuesday, the rest of this week is still considered in-season. There will still be crowds the rest of this week, but they won't be nearly as big as when New Year's Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday. Because of this schedule, you can ride Haunted Mansion Holiday through Sunday, Jan 6th. Also, small world holiday will be open through Jan 21st when the ride will then close down for a 9 month refurbishment. While you are there this week, also check out Jungle Cruise as it will be closed from Jan 28th until March 7th for some off-season refreshing.

Let me begin by saying that I am totally impressed with the work going on in the submarine lagoon. It looks like we're going to get one great attraction next year, even if the capacity is much lower than what we are all used to for "E" tickets. It is quite exciting to have someone like John Lasseter giving his creative input directly at WDI.
In other places, I landed an internship at Newline Cinema, which I am hoping will give me some studio insight. I will be working in the post-production office, which I hope will be a great experience.
For school, I am now in the process of beginning research for my thesis. My plan is to write about the decline of Walt Disney Feature Animation following the death of Walt Disney focusing on the work post-Jungle Book and pre-Little Mermaid. I look forward to the challenge.

I am just days away from finishing out my second semester at film school. I have a huge paper on film theory to write. Also, I am trying to come up with a topic for the main thesis project that will be completed a year from now. Right now I am thinking of writing about Disney feature animation following Walt's death. It would be an analyzation of how Disney as an auteur affected the future animated projects for better and for worse. I only plan to go as far as The Black Caulderon.
We'll see if they let me write about it.
