While there have been many events that have occurred in the past few months, the news yesterday came as some of the most disturbing. Spalding Gray?s body was finally found. I say "finally," even though he was still considered simply a missing person. I knew when I heard that he had disappeared that it was only a matter of time before he would be found deceased. Only recently did I discover the genius of Spalding Gray. He managed to open a window into the human mind and soul that has been rarely accomplished anyone. Both ?Swimming to Cambodia,? recounting his adventures in southeast Asia and ?Gray?s Anatomy,? which tells of his struggles to overcome an eye problem while fighting the inner voices from his Christian Science upbringing were inspired tales of real life. His talent will be missed.
In other news? will Eisner leave Disney? I think he?ll see out his contract through 2006, but if you take into account the phenomenal success that Pixar has brought to the company and the knowledge that they would still love to continue working with Disney if Eisner stepped down, who knows what the coming months may bring.
Finally, the Disneyland Creative Advisory Council has sign-ups through 3/14/04. Go visit disneygallery.com to sign up. If you are selected, it?s an experience you won?t soon forget. You?ll get sneak peaks at upcoming merchandise and events as well as engage in breakout sessions to discuss ideas. It is a blast.
